In November 2013 people gathered on the Maidan Nezalezhnosti, the main plaza in Kyiv, to protest against then-president Viktor Yanukovych after he rejected to sign the Ukraine–European Union Association Agreement. That protest was called “Euromaidan”...
...Euromaidan was the beginning of the Revolution Of Dignity in Ukraine, the change of power and war with Russia...
Euromaidan
Euromaidan became a city within the city with its own infrastructure and weekly meetings. During the meetings, the members of Euromaidan were discussing their goals and ways to achieve them. Music and concerts were played frequently. A spectrum ranging from patriotic poems and national music to visionary ideas for the future of Ukraine.
After Petro Poroshenko became the president of Ukraine, the new government forbad all symbols of totalitarian regimes such as National Socialism and Soviet Union. On the 8th of December 2013 on Taras Shevchenko Boulevard protesters took down the memorial of Vladimir Lenin, a Russian communist revolutionary...
...That led to a mass tear-off of Vladimir Lenin memorials as an act of resistance to the Soviet past in many other cities of Ukraine.

Yulia Tymoshenko a Ukrainian politician, who was put in jail by the Viktor Yanukovych’s government, was set free during the Euromaidan revolution.
The occupied city hall and the International Convention Center “Ukrainian House” served as a place for accommodation, cultural gatherings and as a dining-hall for all Euromaidan supporters.

The occupied trade union house was used for press conferences and as a place for the administrative apparatus of Euromaidan.
Serhiy Nigoyan (born on the 2nd of August 1993), a Euromaidan activist, was shot on the 22nd of January 2014 and became the first protester killed during the fight between the police and the protesters.
Euromaidan
UNA-UNSO (Ukrainian National Assembly – Ukrainian People's Self-Defence). The party was disbanded in May 2014. After the decay of UNA-UNSO, some members joined the Azov Battalion and went into the war zone in Eastern Ukraine. Primarily formed as a volunteer militia, Azov Battalion is now serving under contract of the National Guard of Ukraine.
Antimaidan was the countermovement of the Euromaidan and the supporters of Viktor Yanukovych.
